MODERN STUDIES DEPARTMENT Modern Studies is the social, political and economic study of local national and international issues. It is an up to date subject that is all around you. The Department's aim is to encourage all pupils to develop an interest in the modern world and to foster an understanding of the key issues, topics and controversies which exist in today's society. Pupils are given many opportunities to develop their interests in our subject areas beyond the classroom, through visits from guest speakers and a variety of other activities. Through a variety of learning and teaching strategies the Department seeks to aid pupils in becoming independent learners. There are strong links between Modern Studies and other areas of the curriculum as well as the Literacy and Numeracy strategies and Working with Others and ICT.
