ASDAN Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network. This term Hermitage Academy has introduced ASDAN modules to the range of qualifications available to pupils.
ASDAN’s primary purpose is to enable pupils to have an increased sense of ownership and control of their own learning, which is vital in raising levels of motivation, achievement and self-esteem. It supports both the formative and summative processes by providing opportunities for pupils to be involved in: - the assessment of their own learning - the setting of clear and achievable goals - identifying, expressing and reflecting on their own view of progress and development opportunities - summarizing achievements and compiling a portfolio of supporting evidence - providing a tangible basis for pupil/ teacher dialogue. Each award is divided into a number of modules containing a choice of challenges. Each module is given a credit-rating based on the notional amount of time required on average for a learner to complete the challenges and achieve the defined outcomes at the specific level. The actual amount of time the individual learner takes may, however, vary; it is the actual achievement of the outcomes that matters. |
