International Education in Hermitage Academy The place of the international dimension in education has never been more important. It is the hope of Hermitage Academy that all pupils will, at some stage in their school career, have some kind of international experience. These experiences range from trips, visits and exchanges to places abroad to participation in events with an international flavour here in school. Currently there are several ways that pupils can take part in trips or exchanges abroad here in Hermitage. There are also many opportunities to participate in international activities here in school. Exchanges: There are currently two exchanges within the school:
This exchange has been running for about 10 years and links Hermitage Academy with the Willibald-Gluck-Gymnasium in Neukarkt in Bavaria. The exchange is open to pupils studying German in the Modern Languages Dept from S3 – S5.
Again this is a long established exchange. This exchange links, not just Hermitage, but also other Argyll & Bute schools with Jefferson High School in the American state of Georgia. This exchange is available to pupils in S6 and participation is by application and interview.
