Senior Footballers win Cameronian Cup - Wednesday 20th May

1100-7G7A0742 2

Congratulations to the Senior Footballers for winning the Cameronian Cup final. Hermitage ran out deserved 4-1 winners against Bannerman High School at Holm Park, Yoker, with a classy display. Hermitage found themselves 4-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Nathan Teague (2), Daniel Paterson and Callum Smith. Hermitage defended resolutely in the 2nd half in the face of sustained pressure from Bannerman who scored early to get back into the game. The players and staff were both jubilant at the final whistle and this brings to an end what has been a very successful year for all involved with the team.

On behalf of myself and Mr Irvine I would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the Hermitage players for all their efforts this season. A huge thanks must also go to the staff, parents, pupils and friends of the school for the excellent support that has been shown all season and in particular for turning up in such great numbers yesterday to cheer the boys on.   Mr McCluskey

We encourage all pupils to pick up a book next week!

Happy Reading!

Hermitage Academy Debating Society

Congratulations to the S4 branch of the Senior Debating Club, who last night defeated Lomond School in the first round of the prestigious ESU Schools' Mace. In a closely-fought heat, the Hermitage team of Ryan Brown and Ross Pearce won through thanks to their greater attention to the detail of the motion: 'This House believes that an ever closer union offers the best future for the citizens of Europe'.

Playstation World Cup

pic1 pic2

‘The final of the Hermitage Academy Playstation World Cup took place today 25th June and was won by the underdog Aidan Wilson (S4). Aidan took on Reece Grant (also S4) and his Belgium team won the final 2-0 against England. This was closely contested as has been the case the whole tournament which started with 32 pupils and teachers back at the beginning of June. Much fun has been had by all and more importantly this event raised £225 for the Helensburgh and Lomond Young Carers association which does some great work for many pupils within our school. A big big thanks to all who took part in this event and those who supported the event throughout the 3 weeks of its duration. A follow-up fundraiser will be held next session for the Champions League where the fans favourite Mr McCluskey will be looking to achieve some silverware. Well done to everyone who was involved in this event’

Mr McCluskey
