SQA Results 2014
Exam results should be delivered by text or post, today 5th August. Staff at Hermitage Academy hope your results are everything you wished and worked for!
Remember that there are no 'Appeals' to exam results from 2014. 'Results Services' is the replacement service where, if a school or college is concerned by a candidate’s result, they can request a clerical check and/or a marking review of the script. This means that a candidates script is subject to an 'arithmetical' check and/or a check to ensure that the original marking was in line with the national standard. Strict criteria needs to be met before a request can be made and this can only be processed by the school. SQA will not accept requests directly from candidates, parents, carers or other third parties. It is worth remembering that candidate’s grade can go up or down following a clerical check or marking review.
If you need further information, please see SQA's website or speak with Mrs Trevelyan (DHT Senior School).
If you have the grades required by your firm or insurance choice, you can breathe a sigh of relief! Your application will be updated in UCAS Track.
If you have narrowly missed the required grades you may still be offered a place by one of your two choices. Speak to the university or college. Alternatively, if you are still without a confirmed place you will automatically go into Clearing, which tries to match you with courses that still have vacancies. You need to be pro-active: check and keep checking UCAS Clearing.
If you need help or advice, look on the UCAS website or contact Mrs Mackay (PT Senior School)
S6 Timetables / Subject Choices for 214/15.
Most S6 pupils wil continue with the subject choices and timetables issued in June. However, having received your exam results, it may be necessary to review subjects choices & presentation levels. In order to ensure that an appropriate timetable is available for 14th August, it would be helpful if you contact the school in advance.
This can be done in two ways:
A. By E-mail:
If you just need to change your presentation level (subject choices remain the same) e.g. Perhaps you had hoped to progress to Higher but now need to resit Int 2. Remember to include your name & iTime class in your message!
B. By speaking to a member of staff.
Staff will be available in school on Thursday 7th August from 10:00am to discuss timetable issues. This is the preferred option if a subject choice needs to be reconsidered. Pease be aware that you may need to wait to be seen.

Big Green Challenge!
Congratulations to the Junior Debating team, who reached the semi-finals of the Big Green Challenge at the Scottish Parliament on Friday 20th June. The team - Cameron King, Rebecca Friels and Ryan Brown - debated brilliantly in the quarter-final, and were unlucky to be defeated in the semi-final by the eventual winners, Charleston Academy. Credit is also due to the team's researchers, Ewan Marshall, Jarod Barrett and Hayden Cameron.
P7 Induction days
P7 pupils made a very good first impression during the Induction Days on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th June. We very much look forward to you starting S1 with us in August. Have a great summer!
Playstation World Cup
‘The final of the Hermitage Academy Playstation World Cup took place today 25th June and was won by the underdog Aidan Wilson (S4). Aidan took on Reece Grant (also S4) and his Belgium team won the final 2-0 against England. This was closely contested as has been the case the whole tournament which started with 32 pupils and teachers back at the beginning of June. Much fun has been had by all and more importantly this event raised £225 for the Helensburgh and Lomond Young Carers association which does some great work for many pupils within our school. A big big thanks to all who took part in this event and those who supported the event throughout the 3 weeks of its duration. A follow-up fundraiser will be held next session for the Champions League where the fans favourite Mr McCluskey will be looking to achieve some silverware. Well done to everyone who was involved in this event’
URGENT REQUEST!!! The PTA needs someone who would be willing to take over the roll of treasurer for the coming academic year. If anyone is interested could they please contact the PTA through the school.
Respect Me - Anti Bullying - National Survey
‘Respect Me’ are currently conducting research into children and young people's experience of bullying in Scotland. The research, which is being funded by the Scottish Government, will enable us to help parents and professionals get a clear picture of how young people are experiencing bullying in 2014. Crucially this will support and influence the development of effective responses, which recognise that relationships and behaviour play out online and face to face more than ever.
This research is the first of its kind in Scotland, in terms of its focus on online and face to face bullying, and will be central to the development of robust policy and practice in this area.
Hermitage Academy are supporting respect me in gathering data for their research.
To complete the survey please click on the link below.
The survey will be open until the end of June.
